It can be quite an experience to face down a charge from a group of armed warriors. In a life and death situation it is no wonder most just turn tail and run. Think about it, what would you do if you were on the receiving end of a full mounted cavalry charge with only one objective - to run you over?
An important aspect of Elvegrimarne is to increase the knowledge of our nordic heritage, and especially the viking era history. By going to markets, shows, schools and museums to show our gear, discuss and lecture we strive to educate whoever is interested. We know by experience that learning by seeing, feeling and trying out various replicas of actual historical findings is much more appreciated than just reading about them in a book.
We are more than happy to show our gear and talk about the viking era to anyone interested. Elvegrimarne has visited several schools lecturing about the vikings, something that has been immensely popular. Children have a much easier time learning and understanding when the can touch and see what they are reading about. In the old days of the viking era the people of the Göta river valley were called Elvegrims, which would roughly translate to the 'grim people by the river'.
